These days most people know what you’re talking about when you say you’re transgender - the surface level stuff at least.
Do they really understand what it’s all about and the impact it has on an individual’s life?
The strain it can put on relationships with family and friends
The battles to get the medical support needed
The constant negative press articles
Trolling online
Cruel and hurtful comments in the street
The fear of hate crime
This is all before they even turn up at work. At this point the workplace can either amplify these challenges or become a sanctuary of support.
Sophie transitioned (male to female) in 2011 and Danielle has been on this journey alongside her. Together our lived experience gives us unique insights. It also fuels a passion for making sure that companies foster inclusive cultures that ensure the transgender community gets the support it needs to thrive at work.
Both Danielle and Sophie have worked professionally in the people field for over two decades having both led in-house Diversity and Inclusion functions. Sophie has also held a pivotal role in the National Trans Police Association and has been consulted by Stonewall and the BBC for your expertise. More recently she contributed to the new ‘Transgender and Non-Binary inclusion at work’ CIPD guidance.
Our unparelled insights rooted in personal experience means that we offer more than just awareness – we facilitate transformation. Therefore, we are uniquely placed to ensure trans individuals are met with understanding, support and inclusion.

This is the lovely Sarah Venables, Co-chair of the Hereford and Worcester CIPD Branch.
We delivered one of our talks 'All Things Trans - Ask Anything' sessions to their group.
This is a session facilitated by Danielle and provides a safe space for people to learn and ask questions.
We kick off with a chat with Sophie who shares aspects of her lived experience transitioning male to female.
Then we open the floor for questions that you've always wanted to ask.
See what she had to say!
Our personal experiences navigating mental health challenges, especially during Sophie's transition, have been pivotal in shaping our commitment to well-being. From anxiety to depression and suicide, we've faced the spectrum of struggles and after seeking help ourselves we've now emerged as Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders®).
As advocates for mental wellness, we understand the critical role employers play in fostering supportive environments. That's why we're proud to offer MHFA England-accredited training courses led by Sophie, a qualified instructor. Our courses empower your team to become MHFAiders®, equipped with the skills to provide vital support and intervention when needed.
With accreditation recognised in the UK and British overseas territories like Gibraltar, investing in MHFAiders® training is not just an investment in your team's well-being; it's a commitment to fostering a culture of empathy, understanding, and support.
